These works begin in relationship. Austin spends time observing each animal, learning their posture, habits, and subtle expressions — the small, unmistakable details that make them who they are. The goal is not just likeness, but recognition.

As an animal lover and foster parent with the Humane Society of Greater Miami, Austin approaches this work with deep respect for the bond between humans and animals. Alongside formal portraits, the collection includes illustrative studies that celebrate pets as companions, witnesses, and family members.

Each piece holds space for love, loss, and joy — honoring animals not as symbols, but as singular beings who leave lasting marks on our lives.
